The Studio
Brass Bee is a small floral studio based in Alexandria, Virginia. I’m Hunter, the designer behind it, with eight years in the wedding and event world. I design and install for weddings, events, and seasonal installations across Northern Virginia, Central Virginia, and the Shenandoah Valley.
How I got here
I came to floristry the long way around. I started in event catering and event planning, spent a few years working in a bridal salon, and somewhere along the way stumbled into floral design. It turned out to be the part I loved most. Flowers are the icing on the cake of a wedding. They set the tone, fill the room, and turn a venue into your day. After years designing for other studios, I started Brass Bee to do this work my own way, with more creative freedom and a clear belief about who good floral design should be for.
What I Believe
Wedding flowers have a reputation for being expensive and a little exclusive, priced as though beautiful design is only for the highest-budget weddings. I built Brass Bee on the opposite idea.
I keep my overhead low rather than carrying a retail storefront, which means I’m not padding your quote to cover costs that have nothing to do with your flowers. That saving goes straight back into your design. Good floral design shouldn’t be gatekept. Every couple deserves a florist who treats their budget with care and makes every dollar of it show up on the day. That’s the whole point of how I work: not the biggest spend, but the most thoughtful one.

Brass Bee is an LGBTQ-owned studio, and that shapes how I treat every couple. When I planned my own wedding, my husband and I chose every vendor carefully, looking for the ones who made us feel genuinely comfortable, not merely tolerated. No couple should have to vet their florist that way. With me, you don’t have to wonder. Whoever you are, whoever you love, you’ll be celebrated here, and your flowers will be designed with the same care, always.
